# AI features

AuraCV uses **generative AI** to help you improve your CV, compare yourself to roles, and write cover letters. Open **AI Hub** (`/ai-hub`) for CV checking and job matching, **Skills & courses** (`/skills`) for learning suggestions, and **Cover letter** (`/cover-letter`) for tailored letters.

Generative AI is an **assistant**, not a substitute for your judgment. Always verify facts before applying to employers.

## AI Hub — three tools in one place

**Path:** **AI Hub** (`/ai-hub`)

Free accounts get **quick keyword checks** on CV Checker and Job Matcher. **AuraPro** unlocks full AI scoring and deeper match breakdowns.

### Choose your CV

On any tab you can:

1. **Pick a saved CV** from the dropdown, or
2. **Paste CV text** if you have not saved one yet (you can import pasted text into the builder).

## CV Checker (CV score)

**What it does:** Gives you a **CV score** and practical feedback — keywords, layout, clarity, and how easy your CV is for recruiters to read.

**How to use:**

1. Open **AI Hub** → **CV Checker**.
2. Choose a saved CV or paste your CV text.
3. Click **Get your CV score** (AuraPro) or **Quick keyword check** (free).
4. Read the score, strengths, and things worth fixing first.
5. Edit in the CV builder, then run the checker again to see progress.

### Common questions: CV Checker

**What is a "good" score?**  
Treat it as guidance, not pass/fail. Focus on the listed improvements (missing keywords, thin sections, weak summary).

**Why is my score low with a strong career?**  
Your CV text may not include **keywords** from your target roles, or sections may be too short. Add honest skills and bullets that reflect real job ads.

**Does checking share my CV with employers?**  
No. Feedback runs for your account only. It does not send your CV to employers.

## AI Improver

**AuraPro only.**

**What it does:** Suggests stronger wording and clearer bullets **section by section**. You **approve** each suggestion before anything is applied.

**How to use:**

1. Open **AI Hub** → **AI Improver**.
2. Choose a saved CV.
3. Click **Suggest improvements**.
4. Review each card — approve, edit, or skip.
5. Optionally **generate a new CV** from approved suggestions (saved as a separate document in **My CVs**).

### Common questions: AI Improver

**Suggestions sound generic.**  
Add 2–3 specific bullets per role (tools, outcomes), then run again.

**Suggestions change job titles or dates.**  
Do not accept factual changes you did not verify. AI can get details wrong.

## Job Matcher

**What it does:** Compares your CV to a job and shows a **match score**, skills you already have, gaps, and tips to improve your fit.

**How to use:**

1. Open **AI Hub** → **Job Matcher**.
2. Choose a saved CV or paste CV text.
3. Add the job in either way:
   - **Choose a job from our board** — search and pick a live listing from the Job Board, or
   - **Paste the job description** — requirements, skills, responsibilities (from any source).
4. Click **See how you match** (AuraPro) or **Quick skill check** (free).
5. Read the score, matched skills, missing skills, and recommendations.

Jobs you pick from the board are the same listings you see on **Job Board** (`/jobs`). They refresh daily from South African and international sources.

### How to interpret match scores

- Scores reflect **skill and keyword overlap**, not whether an employer will hire you.
- **80%+** is often a strong fit for **Auto-Apply** (AuraPro) — still read the full ad.
- **60–79%** — worth a manual look if you meet most requirements.
- **Below 60%** — read the job anyway if you are interested; improve keywords or skills where honest.

### Common questions: Job Matcher

**Match score seems low but I am qualified.**  
Add skills and terms from the job description to your **Skills** section and experience bullets (without lying). Run **Quick keyword check** on CV Checker.

**Why choose a job from the board instead of pasting?**  
Faster — the description fills in automatically. Pasting is fine for roles you found elsewhere.

**Can I trust match for Auto-Apply?**  
Start with a **high threshold** (85%+). Read company names and titles before turning on bulk apply.

## Cover letters

**Path:** **Cover letter** (`/cover-letter`)

Write your letter yourself first, then use AI to polish it — as many times as you need.

**Tailored mode (for a specific role):**

1. Open **Cover letter**.
2. In the sidebar, under **Tailor to a specific role**, search and **choose a job from our board** (same listings as Job Board).
3. Or open from a job card: **Write cover letter** on Job Board or job detail links here with the job pre-selected (`/cover-letter?jobId=...`).
4. Select a CV or add background notes so AI stays factual.
5. Type your draft, then use **Improve with AI** or **Generate draft**.

**Generic mode:** Write a reusable letter without tying it to one job.

AI only uses facts from your CV or notes — it does not invent qualifications you do not have.

## Skill recommendations

**Path:** **Skills & courses** (`/skills`)

- Shows skills that could strengthen your CV for roles you are targeting.
- Suggests courses to close gaps.
- Useful for **career changes** or new industries.

After adding skills in the builder, re-run **Job Matcher** to see score changes.

## Keyword check (free)

Available inside **CV Checker** and **Job Matcher** on the free plan. Checks whether your CV includes important terms for a role.

**Workflow:** Read a job ad → add honest keywords to Skills/Experience → run Job Matcher or CV Checker → apply.

## Limited AI trial (promotions)

From time to time AuraCV runs a **limited trial** that unlocks AuraPro AI tools without a subscription — CV grading, job matching, AI improver, and skill insights.

- The trial appears as a modal on the **landing page** when active.
- It does **not** automatically include Auto-Apply, all templates, or ad removal unless stated on the promotion.
- When the trial ends, free daily limits apply again — see [AuraPro](./aura-pro.md).

### Common questions: limits and upgrades

**What does "upgrade_required" or 403 mean?**  
You hit the **free daily limit** or the feature needs **AuraPro**. Go to **Subscriptions** (`/subscriptions`) or **Pricing** (`/pricing`).

**I am AuraPro but still see upgrade_required.**  
Log out and back in. Wait a few minutes after payment. If it persists, email **support@auracv.net** with your Paystack reference.

## Recommended workflow

1. **CV Checker** — note the top 3 improvements.
2. Edit in the **CV builder**.
3. **Job Matcher** — pick a target role from the board or paste a description.
4. Apply or track in **My Applications**.
5. **Cover letter** — tailor for roles you care about most.
6. **CV Checker** again after major edits.

## Accuracy and responsibility

- AI can make mistakes or suggest inflated wording.
- You are responsible for the final CV, cover letters, and every application.
- AuraCV does not provide legal, immigration, or tax advice.
- Do not paste confidential employer data you are not allowed to share.

## AI and your personal data

- AI processes your CV or messages **only to deliver the result you asked for**.
- **AuraCV does not train AI models on your personal information or CV content.**
- **We do not sell your personal information.**

## When generative AI is unavailable

If generative AI is down or rate-limited:

- Match and grade may use **keyword-based fallbacks** (less nuanced).
- Support chat (**Tokugawa**) may return documentation excerpts.
- **Retry later** for full AI results.
